Baked Apples For Two

White bowl full of apples. Baked Apples For Two

This is a nostalgic recipe for me. It is one that my husband and I would make when it was just the two of us. Just starting out with our first apartment, we were so excited to cook together. Hope you enjoy Baked Apples For Two.

I am not sure how we started to make this, but it has stayed in our autumn dessert rotation over the years. I remember not long after the first time we made these, I went thrifting and found the cutest pair of apple baking dishes (I show them further down). I’ve kept them all these years and we still use them. Now that we live in Washington, the #1 producer of apples, we make baked apples even more!

Autumn around the Pacific Northwest is so pretty. It is hard not to get in the spirit! Look at this vine covered building on the University of Washington campus!

Oh, and I have included more fall inspiration at the end of this post! You will love what my fellow bloggers have to share for this Apple Picking Blog Hop coordinated by Juliet from A Loverly Life.

Back to autumn scenery….

Charming brick buildings covered in vines.

Doesn’t this look like a setting for a movie?

And there are so many apple orchards just a short drive away, not to mention apple trees around the neighborhood. Last year we visited a pumpkin patch that had an apple orchard on site. It’s the perfect farm with tons of activities for kids, snacks for sale, a large picnic area, and of course the apples and pumpkins to pick.

The farm is also a wedding event space. A fall wedding here would be so charming.

Rows of apple trees!

The orchard grows a few different apple varieties. They also sell some produce near the entrance, for those who don’t have time to pick their own.

Gather Ingredients

Ingredients for baked apples set on marble table.

First up, gather your ingredients.

Oops I forgot to show the butter! I suggest to use salted or unsalted based on your preference.

Remove Apple Cores

Cored apples placed in round bowls.

After you remove the cores, place in a baking dish. A Pyrex casserole dish or baking sheet works well, especially when you need to make enough for a group.

I came across these cute apple shaped baking dishes and I’m debating whether or not I should get them!

Fill Apples With Ingredients

Prepping apples to bake with pieces of butter.

There’s the butter! Bake for at least 30 minutes. Depending on your oven and apple size, this may take longer.

Serve With Vanilla Ice Cream

You can also serve with whipped cream or Cool Whip. Or be very indulgent and top with both! No judgment ha ha!

So yummy and easy. A perfect easy dessert to make for last minute company. Of course you can double up the ingredients if you need to make more than just two. If you use large apples, you can split one. I share one with my son and it is just enough, especially after adding vanilla ice cream on the side!
