DIY Bunny Ear Napkin Rings

DIY Bunny Ear Napkin Rings

Bunny ear napkin rings have been pretty popular the last couple years and I’m on board with it. I’m a sucker for cutesy and whimsy- how about you? Hope you said yes; let’s make some DIY bunny ear napkin rings!

When my husband and I were first dating we started to call each other “hunny bunny”. We would learn how to say rabbit in different languages and use the terms in cards and what not. We took the bunny-ness to the extreme by referring to our house as our burrow. And later when we started a family, we would say “our bunny family”.

Kind of corny and mushy, right?

Needless to say, I am a fan of bunnies. I don’t have hundreds of figurines or anything. But since having my kids, I have been buying bunny books, stuffies and rabbit print clothes.

Now that you know about my bunny background, I hope you aren’t rolling your eyes too much to read the tutorial ha ha.

Of course Easter is perfect for me to indulge in my fondness for bunnies. I love the bunny ear napkin rings I see while online shopping, but I am running out of space to store anymore dining supplies!

To get the same look I used materials I already have on hand- napkin rings, glue gun and raffia wrapped wire.

Bend the wire to create ears.

There isn’t an exact science to this step. The wire really lends itself to being bent in the ear shape.

Depending on how flexible the wire is will determine if you can make sharp pointy ears or more round shape ears.

Wrap excess wire.

Cut the wire with enough slack to wrap around your napkin ring holder.

Tuck wire to secure.

After tucking the wire, straighten as needed.

Some of the raffia frays when you cut the wire, and that’s where the glue gun comes in.

Glue down any loose bits as needed.

Accessorize with your DIY bunny ear napkin rings!

These little ears will look perfect with any style. I pulled out a vintage tablecloth from my grandma, then mixed in some vintage plates with newer dishware.

Last year I found beautiful vintage tea tins at a thrift shop. They have been seen all over magazines, Pinterest as vases for floral arrangements, and couldn’t help giving it a try.

Incorporating dyed Easter eggs would look pretty on the table too.

If you aren’t the DIY, crafty type, you can definitely buy some ready-made napkin rings. Check out the cute ones linked below.
