Meet Marie of This Dear Casa.
Hi, I’m Marie! This site came to be after we purchased a fixer-upper and wanted to share our work and our lessons learned.
What’s your style?
I have always loved, thrifting, yard sales, estate sales, swap meets, flea markets, you get the idea! To me, finding second hand items is like a treasure hunt, and I love the sustainable aspect.
When we lived in Southern California, our style was a mix of Mid-Century Modern, Boho and Mediterranean. Now, I’ve leaned into the Tudor style of our house while adding grand millennial pieces, and hanging on to elements of my favorite past styles.
Do you decorate for holidays? I love holiday decor and sharing the different themes I come up with.
More About This Dear Casa
We had moved to Seattle for my husband’s new job & thought a road trip with our kiddo and cat was the perfect way to kick off the next chapter of life. Neither of us had ever lived outside of LA county. The move was an opportunity to live somewhere new and for me to stay home with our baby.
We lived with my brother-in-law & his wife while we house hunted, procured our home (1929 Tudor style that had lots of remodeling done in the 60s. Hello gold fleck popcorn ceiling!) and proceeded to renovate. Friends and family really stepped up when things took a turn for the worse. Dave, my hubby, did so much DIY on the house. Labor of love sounds so cliche, but that’s absolutely what it was/is.
I’ll be posting about completed, current and future renovation projects; reflecting on the past years through the home we’ve created. And there will be some decor finds, smaller craft projects, gardening, and maybe a recipe or two.
One of my favorite projects we have done is renovating our fireplace. Click the text above to check it out.
Creating a breakfast nook in our kitchen was one of my top priorities for this house. It’s a cozy spot to start our day.
